About Action for Children
Every child should have a safe and happy childhood.
At Action for Children, we protect and support vulnerable children and young people across the UK. We make sure their voices are heard. And we campaign to bring lasting improvements to their lives.
We do this through 503 local community services, as well as in schools and online. Last year we helped more than 368,000 children, young people and families.
Supporting healthy, happy young minds
Good mental health is a big part of what we do. Our projects give children and young people the help they need both at school and at home.
The Blues Programme
Blues is an internationally-acclaimed, evidence-based programme that tackles the early signs of low mood and anxious thoughts, and helps young people build resilience.
The programme supported more than 5,000 13 to 19-year-olds last year. After taking part, 81% of the young people said they felt more confident, while 75% were more involved in lessons. Almost all (98%) would recommend Blues to a friend.
Guide
Guide is our digital mental health literacy programme for young people, teachers and other professionals. Based online, the programme raises awareness, reduces stigma, and encourages young people to seek support.
Bouncing Back
Bouncing Back helps 8 to 19-year-olds to understand their thoughts, feelings and actions. It also explains how, when and where to get help. More than 3,000 young people have taken part in the project since September 2020. 94% told us they were better able to manage stress.
